I know you've all been wondering how the pseudonymous Nero and I have been getting along for lo these many weeks now. Do these photos answer that question?
Probably not. But here they are anyway:
Although Nero's surprisingly good about not needing to be in my lap, on my keyboard, etc., when I'm working, he does insist on our being in near-constant physical proximity. (You can't tell from this image, but the rest of his body is curled all the way around my hip.)
Egad! A stowaway!

So cute! Reminds me of my cat when he was a kitten...
Lil' Nero certainly is a cutie! With that pseudonym he sounds more like my troublemaker than my scaredy-cat.
I may enlist his help in stealing that cute bag and the b&w printed thingy in the background. Very swanky!
Thanks, S.!
The black/white thingy is a pillow in a very nice, rawish silk. Got two of 'em at Target right after I moved here, on clearance for about $8 bucks each. By now, of course, both sport a few decorative claw and chew marks.
And yes: it's all swank here, all the time.
I like how in the second photograph he appears to be secretly smiling at your comments on that paper.
He really is a beautiful cat. I love his shiny coat and big green eyes. He looks like such a sweetheart, too!
F, these are adorable, and Nero seems like a wonderful creature. I am very happy to hear that you get along, because it would be devastating for me to think about the lil guy being bounced from foster home to foster home until he ends up freebasing catnip in a gutter somewhere.
(Just don't turn into an inane cat-blogger, okay? Promise? We all need our F&F witty, erudite, and elevated as always. We hope Nero can keep up.)
So cute! It's wonderful that he's become so bonded to you (and your accessories).
Neo: oh, I promise! But it's good to have you guys to keep me honest.
What an elegant cutie-pie!
I find that I do better work when I have a cat either curled up next to me or doing something adorable in my line of vision.
beautiful kitty and your apartment looks so lovely and sunny and clean.
Nero looks like a feisty little guy. You might try giving him a shoebox to play in--keep it within sight of you but just far enough away. You'll be amazed by the freedom it affords you to get some work done. Oh, and some cats like to chew on paper. More than once I've had to apologize to students for the fang marks on the corners of their exams. I usually say, "My cat only chews up really good papers," so everyone hopes theirs will be among the damaged.
Congrats on the new companion!
Lolz to the commenter who doesn't want you to turn into an inane cat blogger. I don't think I've seen any inane cat blogs.
I can't wait to meet Nero! He looks so silky and mischievous and somewhat bitchy. Which I like.
The white sofa won't be white for long... having a calico cat did in my white upholstery. It turned out with a calico that the black hair showed up on everything light, and the white hair on everything dark. I was ALWAYS covered in cat hair!
But a very cute cat!
