From early tomorrow through late Sunday I'll be among the other ass-shakers in Our Nation's Capital. I'm pleased by both the location and the company, but irritated, once again, that SAA is always scheduled over Easter and usually over Passover.
I mean, everyone knows that academics are a bunch of family-hating atheists--but is it really in our professional interests to be so obvious about it?

Oh, have fun -- I so wanted to go (seems half my department are giving papers) and but so, so can't.
Shake that ass extra for me, darlin'.
I arrived today (might as well make the most of cancelling classes and get there early!) It's beautiful here. Is there a blogger meet-up in the works?
I dunno. Maybe I'm sentimental, but I kinda enjoy watching all the folks with endowed chairs hunt for their Easter eggs on Sunday morning.
Moria: another time. Soon! (But if anyone complains or remarks on my ass-shaking, I'll blame you.)
P: a small one, I think, yes. Email me! (And that goes for anyone else I've not gotten in touch with, whether a blogger or otherwise--I ought to have email access throughout.)
wow....that would so not fly in my discipline.
Have a great time! My two Renaissance ladies from the Dream Academy are heading up there tomorrow as well - hopefully you'll run into them!
Looking forward to catching up and comparing shoes.
[btw, My confirmation word is dogies. As in "get a long little"?]
MW: Yay! I hoped I'd see them both. Will keep a lookout.
Pamphilia: I only brought the medium-sized (as opposed to the big) guns this time--but will look forward to seeing your own.
I kept reading "capital quails" as the direct object of "shakes." I wondered why the conference was so tough on the birds this year.
